Annual potluck

ATA Martial Arts & Kids Karate of Lakeville

We had our annual pot-luck dinner last night.  Dozens of our students (and tasty dishes) turned out to visit with fellow students and the instructors.  The Now & Then Singers from Lakeville North High School performed a short, but fun, concert which was enjoyed by everyone.

The big prize from Mr. Raberge in our childrens' gift exchange was a pair of tickets to this weekend's Vikings-Lions games . The mom of the daughter who won is a huge Vikings fan (She wants the Vikings to win their last game in teh Metrodome instead of losing and getting a better draft pick for next year.), and the two will enjoy the game on Sunday.

We at Raberge's ATA Leadership Martial Arts thank all our students for a wonderful 2013, and we hope you can help us make 2014 even better!

Fresh black belts tonight

ATA Martial Arts & Kids Karate of Lakeville

We will hold our quarterly black belt testing tonight.  We have a couple fo students who will be testing for their first-degree black belts, some for their second-degree belts, and some will be doing a midterm test toward their next rank advancement.

We wish everyone good luck and good skills tonight as they each take that next step in their martial arts journey.

Tourney time in Fargo!

ATA Martial Arts & Kids Karate of Lakeville

Because of last summer's district championships and the resultant pushing back of the World Expo, the formerly during-summer Fargo Regional Tournament has been relocated to this weekend.  (If you enjoy going to Fargo in the summer...)  Thankfully, the tournament will be inside.

Anyway, some of our students will be competing this weekend.  If you see them before they go, wish them luck!  If you see them after they return, ask them how they did and what they thought of the tournament.

So sore, but in a good way

ATA Martial Arts & Kids Karate of Lakeville

After a private lesson with the contest winner at our school, ATA Grand Master In Ho Lee led area color- and black-belt students in a set of workouts on Friday night.  There was a class of color belt students, a class of younger black belt students, then a class of older (teens and adults) black belt students.  He worked out everyone very hard in full sparring gear, despite there being little sparring.  Many people were sore the next day (and the next) from the workouts, but they were glad for the training and learning directly from the grand master.

If you were at the workout, be sure to thank the staff at our school, especially Mrs. Yu.  She did a lot of work to ensure that Grand Master In Ho Lee's visit was good for him, our students, and other area students.
